The login process is now less jumpy and this would highlight the tight integration of the login dialog to the desktop. The process would become nice and smooth. The icon is placed where exactly? on my system there's a computer icon next to the hostname. I find it visually quite distracting, it gets most attention. I would just drop it, or at least make it 22x22. Another issue with this login screen: at the top near the main icon, the computer's hostname is shown. The problem is that for the majority of our users who use Automatic Configuration and don;t set a custom hostname, it'll end up saying something like "linux-i6nd", which is gibberish to most users. Would it not be better to change it to a more understandable message (e.g. "Welcome to openSUSE!") or remove the text altogether?

Note that there's a hidden label that you can activate by clicking on the hostname on the default glade file. It now always appears. And I changed my config to show a banner message (doable in gconf). So, hrm. With all those labels, the new glade file isn't better :/ We can keep only one visible label for the hostname + the system info (and the user could change what's displayed by clicking on it, like on the current glade file). Or we can do a vbox with both information. Or nothing. But what about the banner text?
