[Bug 614450] New: dvd fails to boot without acpi=off
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=614450 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=614450#c0 Summary: dvd fails to boot without acpi=off Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 7 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Live Medium AssignedTo: coolo@novell.com ReportedBy: stuarttanner@o2.co.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 HP Pavilion DV7-2230SA issue also applies to opensuse 11.2 and 32bit version. x66-64 DVD boots and presents two options for hardware emulation both identical, option 1 causes system to freeze, option 0 loads boot menu. Installation from DVD selected, system starts to boot, however, once udev process is started - the system freezes again - no key combinations will work and I have no shell. 32Bit dvd booted without issue into Yast2, installation completed again without issue, but upon first boot udev works, but as soon as hardware detection, configuring drivers process starts the system freezes again. System boots up fine with acpi=off options, but then power monitor doesn't work and wifi doesn't work. I have tested this issue also with Fedora 12 - it reported I had a "Broken Bios". Ubunbu 09.10 worked but I haven't tested Fedora 13 or Ubuntu 10.04. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Power on Computer 2. Select OpenSUSE from Boot Menu 3. System freezes just after udev on 32bit (installed system) or during udev on x64 DVD Actual Results: system freezes Expected Results: system should boot normally acpi=off worked but without wifi and power unsure why but system worked under ubuntu 09.10 but not Fedora 12 I will test Fedora 13 and Ubuntu 10.04 to report if they work, perhaps we can take something out of their build and apply a fix to opensuse. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
