[Bug 409609] New: Firefox crippled using nfs home .mozilla
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=409609 Summary: Firefox crippled using nfs home .mozilla Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nicholas-jones@uiowa.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other When firefox 3 is opened (tried all 3 versions available in the repositories I've added including mozilla repo), the home page does not open and I'm unable to hit enter and go to a page using the URL field or the search field. Using the firefox precompiled binary tar.gz directly from mozilla works fine but then PATH must be updated. Reproduce: Always Create new user (LDAP vs Local does not matter, it is the location of the home that matters). Run any version of firefox 3 from the openSUSE repositories (I would provide you with a list of my repos but yum repolist all returns only 2 (OSS and NON-OSS which it says is disabled although it's not). I have about 6-7 more repositories working and enabled that yum repolist does not show. Try firefox with local home. Move home to an NFS share then try firefox. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Here are the export and mount options. Nothing fancy. Please let me know what I can try (I've tried clearing /tmp/* and the entire mozilla directory under my home). Still breaks. Attached a screen of what it looks like. I then uninstall firefox using yast2, logout, login, and can run firefox fine. So to answer your question, sqlite works fine with firefox from mozilla, but not from Suse. In both cases, the sqlite db is under ~/.mozilla/firefox/NNNNN.default/ I can't find any sqlite files under /usr/firefox when I've installed it there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm not running a beta, I was running Suse 11. It was fully updated according to the updater, and I don't understand when you say Firefox doesn't "fit" the xulrunner. BTW what does Factory mean exactly? Ok, I've installed Suse 11.1 from scratch (the Factory release). I'm still having the problem with firefox. Changing to nolock on the client NFS mount options (ie. NFS mounted home dir) fixes the firefox problem, but introduces a mutual exclusion issue for the NFS mount. It's not an issue really as I've removed group write access for the whole mount. Still, if this is not expected then it is probably a bug since my configuration is very basic.
