[Bug 1000907] New: Cannot get directory listing of Windows share. Error "Object is remote" using 4.1.31-30-default kernel
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1000907 Bug ID: 1000907 Summary: Cannot get directory listing of Windows share. Error "Object is remote" using 4.1.31-30-default kernel Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba Assignee: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de Reporter: richard.hamilton@microfocus.com QA Contact: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 Build Identifier: On systems using 4.1.31-30-default I am not able to get a directory listing for a Windows share. Problem started with the 4.1.31-30 kernel. There are no issues using 4.1.27-27-default. I can duplicate the issue on two machines on different networks. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Mount attempt to mount the share. I use the following: sudo mount -t cifs //share/files/subdir/dir /mnt/corpdom -o username=user,domain=domain,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 Password for root and the SMB user is entered at the prompts. 2. Change directory to the share and execute an ls hts44prod2:~ # cd /mnt/corpdom/ hts44prod2:/mnt/corpdom # ls Actual Results: hts44prod2:~ # ls /mnt/corpdom ls: reading directory /mnt/corpdom: Object is remote Expected Results: Should see a directory listing for the share instead of "Object is remote message". The behavior is different from the 4.1.27-27-default kernel. A grep of messages output returns the following. Some are bad password messages, but not sure about the query messages. Directory permissions on the mount point are 777. 10108.395969] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13 [10108.396124] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13 [10122.955141] CIFS VFS: cannot query dirs between root and final path, enabling CIFS_MOUNT_USE_PREFIX_PATH [10263.259384] CIFS VFS: cannot query dirs between root and final path, enabling CIFS_MOUNT_USE_PREFIX_PATH [10343.114772] CIFS VFS: cannot query dirs between root and final path, enabling CIFS_MOUNT_USE_PREFIX_PATH [10440.517680] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13 [10440.517747] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13 [10460.541054] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13 [10460.541179] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13 [17182.827676] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13 [17182.827768] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13 [17326.977899] CIFS VFS: cannot query dirs between root and final path, enabling CIFS_MOUNT_USE_PREFIX_PATH [17636.410746] CIFS VFS: cannot query dirs between root and final path, enabling CIFS_MOUNT_USE_PREFIX_PATH [17799.037197] CIFS VFS: Autodisabling the use of server inode numbers on \\HOUNQUSDC01.US.NETIQ.CORP\Files.
