https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252793 Summary: System doesn't detect mouse, thinking that it is middle button. Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: _Gleb_@inbox.ru QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com I have 2-buttons optical mouse (PS/2) with wheel. As i get it, editing kernel line is in the yast2/system/lilo/other kernel parameters (there may be some mistakes in names, because i use localised Suse), right? Now this string seems so: " apm=off acpi=off mce=off barrier=off idewait=50 i8042.nomux psmouse.proto=bare irqpoll pci=nommconf resume=/dev/hda1 splash=verbose showopts pcmouse.proto=imps". https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252793 ------- Comment #15 from jkosina@novell.com 2007-05-01 17:13 MST ------- First, please not that the parameter name is 'psmouse.proto', not 'pcmouse.proto', which is what you seem to have supplied. Second, could you please verify which of the parameters 'psmouse.proto=imps', 'psmouse.proto=imps' and 'i8042.nomux' makes the mouse work? The best way to test this is to modify the kernel command line in yast2 for the default kernel - not the failsafe one - (System -> Boot Loader -> openSUSE 10.1 -> edit) and let me know which of the three options makes the scrollwheel work. The hardware seems to be buggy - it sends device ID of 0x0001, which doesn't seem to be in compliance with ps/2 mouse interface specification. Forcing the driver to use intelimouse extensions with scrolling wheel support (which it would use in case if device ID == 0x0003) makes the scrolling wheel work. Device id of 0x0002 clashes with Kensington Thinking mouse implementation, which doesn't have any scrolling wheel. If you feel different, please feel free to reopen the bug. Otherwise always forcing the IMPS protocol would work with this mouse. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
