On a 32-bit install, to a USB hard drive, at the very end of the "Perform Installation" step, a message box appears with the title "An error occurred during initrd creation." and no contents in the message box. Clicking "OK" leads to a second message box asking "An error occurred during boot loader installation. The workaround is to somehow force the packages "yast2-bootloader" and "yast2-slp" to be included in the install. If you're using a config xml, you can just add them.
