[Bug 309447] New: NetworkManager VPN too hard to set up
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=309447 Summary: NetworkManager VPN too hard to set up Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pbaudis@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I have tried to set up my home VPN using NetworkManager, but I just totally failed. With the openvpn config file (which works on the same system), it's as simple as remote MYHOMEIP dev tun ifconfig 192.168.7.2 192.168.7.1 secret home.key up ./home.up but I didn't find a way to mirror this configuration in the GUI. I have filled MYHOMEIP as gateway, selected pre-shared authentication, filled 192.168.7.2 as local IP, 192.168.7.1 as remote IP, added the secret key and ticked to route only specific IP range through the VPN. But it fails, "because the VPN server did not return an adequate network configuration". The main trouble is total lack of further diagnostics. The only thing I can dig out of /var/log (which I think is NOT where the user should go to get any more details, but...): Sep 11 11:57:21 pixie NetworkManager: <info> VPN Activation (Home VPN) Stage 3 of 4 (Connect) reply received. And there's no Help button in the NetworkManager VPN setup dialog. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
