There's no crash in the syslog (ie. if the defrag kernel thread crashed for example).
Is it permanent, or the processes go away after zypper finishes?
Defragmentation is run from the post-install plugin (that's also in the ps output). From the output it looks like zypper did not wait for the child processes yet. Permanent, zypper actually never finishes (due to tar being dead) and neither
(In reply to David Sterba from comment #2) process seem to be kill-able. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think, this comes from the only process in "D" state: kernel: lsof D ffff88017fc73a40 0 9254 9253 kernel: Call Trace: kernel: rpc_wait_bit_killable+0x31/0x80 [sunrpc] kernel: __wait_on_bit+0x5d/0x90 kernel: out_of_line_wait_on_bit+0x6e/0x80 kernel: __rpc_execute+0x167/0x460 [sunrpc] kernel: rpc_run_task+0x6d/0x90 [sunrpc] kernel: nfs4_call_sync_sequence+0x56/0x80 [nfsv4] kernel: _nfs4_proc_getattr+0xb8/0xd0 [nfsv4] kernel: nfs4_proc_getattr+0x59/0xf0 [nfsv4] kernel: __nfs_revalidate_inode+0xb5/0x330 [nfs] kernel: nfs_getattr+0x7c/0x230 [nfs] kernel: vfs_fstatat+0x57/0x90 kernel: SYSC_newstat+0x1c/0x40 kernel: system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b
so there is/was possibly a hung NFS mount (maybe because of the newly disabled 10.12x.x.x addrs)
Machine is on prg network which was not renumbered, but in both cases there was inaccessible nfs mount though ... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Also it seems that same issue occurs even without nfs stale mount/nfs mounts at all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created attachment 619688 [details] Trying to install "plasmoid-webcamoid" from apper does nothing - no error but package is NOT installed
Sorry again, I am really creating a mess right now. In this logfile I am installing a src package, hence I was not able to find the program to be installed. Sorry for all the confusion! In the end: After apper runs, there a dead processes hanging around as reported in comment #1, that's all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
