[Bug 407593] New: Keyboard layout changes randomly during boot.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=407593 Summary: Keyboard layout changes randomly during boot. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrea.turrini@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I've an Acer Aspire 1691wlmi and I've noted that sometimes keyboard layout changes from a boot to another. In particular, the codes generated by the pressure of a key are not constants. For example, if I press the euro sign near arrows, usually I obtain an e034 code but sometimes the same key generates code e049. I've obtained such detailed informations because I'm trying to understand why the euro key is not managed by HAL (in fact xev generates no feedback on euro key pressure) but I think these problems are not related. In particular, I've no .xmodmaprc file in my home. With a simple reboot (and hence without configuration modifications), the keyboard works correctly. When this change happens, keys that are not constants are at least: backspace, left ctrl, down and right arrow. I've not tested all other keys. Currently, I'm using kernel 2.6.25.9-0.2-default. This is the first time I obtain such situation with openSUSE 11, but it was more frequent with openSUSE 10.3. I will attach /var/log/messages (where I've obfuscated my ip address) restricted to two boots: the first with the incorrect mapping and the second with the correct mapping.
