[Bug 211428] New: X11 Detects Logitech MX700 Buttons Backwards
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211428 Summary: X11 Detects Logitech MX700 Buttons Backwards Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: lightsolphoenix@gmail.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com When I installed Alpha 5, everything when fine; but after starting up X11, I noticed that it reversed the order of my middle and right buttons (the middle button brings up the menus, and the right button usually doesn't do anything). xev reports the buttons are numbered right (the right mouse button is reported as button 2, but acts like button 3, and vice versa). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211428 mhopf@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|ASSIGNED |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |lightsolphoenix@gmail.com ------- Comment #9 from mhopf@novell.com 2006-10-13 04:24 MST ------- Then somewhere in your configuration files you must have a xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 3 2" or similar. Easy way to check: Log in as root (which typically doesn't have a xinitrc or .xsessionrc) and test whether buttons are switched as well. If butttons are switched as well, it must be a system config file, but I'm not aware that SUSE did anything like that in the system config files. If buttons are ok, do a 'grep xmodmap .??*' in your home. Maybe this didn't surface until recently, as xmodmap -e pointer used to only work with the exact number of buttons - which is 9 ATM, so it just quit and did nothing in former times, but now it has been changed to work with only a subset as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211428 mhopf@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|ASSIGNED |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |lightsolphoenix@gmail.com ------- Comment #15 from mhopf@novell.com 2006-10-24 09:31 MST ------- No, the button count is not wrong. We currently define all mice with 9 buttons, buttons 1-3 physical standard buttons, 4-7 wheel, 8-9 physical buttons 4-5. The mouse emulation uses the imps/2 protocol, which has only support for 5 physical buttons. It's not possible to use more than 5 in this environment. You would have to use the evdev mouse driver, and configure it on your own. As I pointed out before, someone (I don't know who) reorders mouse buttons in userspace, so this is *not* a Xorg issue. I have no clue ATM why both Gnome and KDE do this, so this could very well be an effect introduced by a SUSE patch, or a user error (xmodmap in user environment). You haven't commented on my questions in comment #9, so setting this on NEEDINFO. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
