[Bug 941867] New: Upgrade from openSUSE 13.2 to Tumbleweed yields a kernel panic while update apparmor-abstraction
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=941867 Bug ID: 941867 Summary: Upgrade from openSUSE 13.2 to Tumbleweed yields a kernel panic while update apparmor-abstraction Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201505* Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: AppArmor Assignee: suse-beta@cboltz.de Reporter: ronisbr@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I needed to install openSUSE 13.2 and then upgrade to Tumbleweed because the installation of the latter always crashes here (the bug was already reported). However, when I tried to upgrade following the procedures in Wiki, I got a Kernel panic while the package apparmor-abstraction was being updated. I tried twice with the same error at the same installation step. I found another person who had the same problem in a Spanish forum [1]. As far as I can tell, he solved the issue by uninstalling apparmor. However, I could also solve the problem by just disabling it using: `systemctl stop apparmor` before `zypper dup`. Unfortunately, I did not take a screenshot of the Kernel message and it is not possible right now to format my machine and reinstall Tumbleweed. ------ [1] http://www.forosuse.org/forosuse/showthread.php?t=32755 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created attachment 649832 [details] Temporary workaround patch
I have attached a patch that will keep the bug() call from triggering. It does not address the root cause, as it leaks some memory instead of dealing with why the subprofiles have not been freed at this point.
Yeah, BUG() seems like a overkill for small memory leaks. Maybe WARN()? I'm going to backport this in anyway. Meanwhile, would you merge this to upstream, too? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
