The pointer does not behave as expected, but clicks are now generated. Was able to use it in Gimp for about 30 s, now Gimp dies after the first press on the pen. When using it in normal X11, it suddenly stops, although I do move the pen. It continues moving after the next press ... I then tried to upgrade my xorg-x11-input-driver package from the repository you have suggested. It said it required INPUT_ABI_VERSION = 11, and said I had to update xorg-x11-server and x11-video (see screenshot attachment). When I did this it broke my X11 server. I had to reinstall the input-driver, server and video packages from the DVD to get it working again. Everything is OK, but once again my tablet is not creating mouse clicks. In summary: installing the latest versions of input-driver, server and video now breaks X, but without them I can't get my Wacom Intuos Tablet 3 to work.
