[Bug 735188] New: btrfs: crash during normal operation (btrfs/inode.c:1581)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=735188 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=735188#c0 Summary: btrfs: crash during normal operation (btrfs/inode.c:1581) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: delder@novacoast.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 I'm using en encrypted VG with btrfs / and /home on top with compress and ssd enabled. During normal system operation (browsing firefox, reading email in evolution, etc...) the desktop (Gnome) stopped refreshing but I could still move the mouse. Switching to a virtual terminal allowed me to have normal access and I was able to restart xdm and everything appeared to be working correctly. A few minutes later the system dropped to a terminal with a kernel error and froze. Here's what I was able to retrieve from syslog after reboot: Dec 6 13:53:01 delder kernel: [ 8345.879941] kernel BUG at /home/abuild/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-desktop-3.1.0/linux-3.1/fs/btrfs/inode.c:1581! I haven't disabled compression (I like to live life dangerously :) but I have disabled ssd and am still able to trigger this (very very rarely). Here's another one if it helps at all:
Compression is safe, just affects timing or interaction with other btrfs features (like autodefrag or no-space corner cases). I'm trying to hunt this bug, it's very hard given the frequency it happens. Thanks for the report, but it just BUGs in a worker thread and does not leave traces to analyze the root cause. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
