My observations are: sound after boot: ok sound after hibernating: ok sound after `modprobe snd_intel8x0m` : ok sound after hibernating: *not* ok sound after `rmmod snd_intel8x0m`: *not* ok sound after `rcalsasound restart`: ok The modem controller's snd_intel8x0m module seems to conflict with the audio controller's snd_intel8x0 module - at least in _my_ case. The only problem is that I read dozens of people complaining about this bug, and everybody said that removing&&reloading the snd_intel8x0 module did not help. But after a simple rcalsasound restart, I got my sound back, OR I can mute&&unmute the Master channel in the gnome-volume-control, and it works again. What about you, do you have an "Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC' 97 Modem Controller (rev 03)", and is the snd_intel8x0m module loaded before the hibernation? (And the conflict with modem was already solved in the upstream. I'll backport to FACTORY kernel if needed.) Also, Frank confirmed that it works *again* with 2.6.23 kernel. So, something got broken in 2.6.22. Interestingly, the same driver (intel8x0) works fine with 2.6.22 kernel, for example, my laptop. Hence this is more about the deeper level, e.g. ACPI or PM code, I guess.
