[Bug 421340] New: ssh authentication for installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=421340 Summary: ssh authentication for installation Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: AutoYaST AssignedTo: ug@novell.com ReportedBy: lukasz.stelmach@iem.pw.edu.pl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I propose using public key authentication to access openSUSE installation system. It is far more secure and convenient (see ssh-agent) than the present sshpassword/password dialog scheme. Today you either send the password in cleartext (via dhcp) or Serial-Over-Lan. (I do not consider using ssh as an option when you have got physical access to the machine). All that is needed is another command line parameter e.g. sshauthorizedkeys=<url>. The downloaded file is saved as /root/.ssh/authorized_keys. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
