[Bug 682917] New: Newer LibreOffice 3.3.2.2-30.2 can not launch due to a conflict with its configuration files inherited from LibreOffice 3.3.2.2-29.1.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682917 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=682917#c0 Summary: Newer LibreOffice 3.3.2.2-30.2 can not launch due to a conflict with its configuration files inherited from LibreOffice 3.3.2.2-29.1. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: OpenOffice.org AssignedTo: bnc-team-ooo@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: publio.escipion.el.africano@gmail.com QAContact: cwei@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; es-ES; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 SUSE/3.6.16-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.16 I was running LibreOffice 3.3.2, OOO330m19 (Build:202), tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2, under openSuSE 11.2 fine. But noticing that there was an update, I upgraded to the newer 3.3.2.2-30.2, but it is buggy, because it can not launch due to a conflict with its configuration files inherited from LibreOffice 3.3.2.2-29.1). A warn box is displayed: "[Spanish:] No se puede iniciar la aplicación [English: The application can not be launched]. Failed to updatefile[sic]:///home/user/.libreoffice/3-suse/user/extensions/bundled/lastsynchronized" The file lastsynchronized is 0 bytes long, is readable and writable, and it seems to be newly created (today, after the upgrade). The issue can not be solved deleting the file, or the whole directory libreoffice. Also, if after closing the warn box, the user retries to launch LibreOffice, the application will warn you that there is another instance running, or that the user's personal configuration is block, &c. And actually, there is a $HOME/.libreoffice/3-suse/.lock file (0b long). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Upgrade to LibreOffice 3.3.2.2-30.2 2.Launch it. 3.See above, under Details. Actual Results: LibreOffice does not launch. Expected Results: LibreOffice launched. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have to clarify something: the reproducibility is always, but related to the upgrade.
Please, what do you exactly mean with always? Does it mean that you updated once and it always crashed until you got it somehow working? Or does it mean that you tried the update on more systems and you saw the problem on all systems? Are you able to reproduce the problem again? I am afraid that we can't do much if we are not able to reproduce it and do not have any backtrace or strace logs. My theory is that you were running libreoffice during the update and it got somehow mad because it lost the old files, ... This is a generic problem and might happen with any application. I think that LO is more error prone because it uses lot of modules that are loaded later when needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Topic 1: I do not see the warning any longer with newer packages. I have no longer the original config files.
I am afraid that we could not do much without a reasonable way to reproduce the bug => closing -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
