[Bug 405075] New: KNetworkManager icon anomaly - none displayed until second wifi device added
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=405075 Summary: KNetworkManager icon anomaly - none displayed until second wifi device added Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Larry.Finger@lwfinger.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer In one of the testing versions (I think RC1), there were two KNetworkManager applet icons shown, one for wired and one for wireless. In the release version, I usually have none, even though the wireless has connected. I use KDE3, not 4. If I plug in a second wireless interface, the wireless icon appears and I can select either interface. One other thing I notice is that the signal strength is not based on quality the way that KNM in 10.3 was. For what it is worth, I much prefer the behavior of KNM in 10.3. The ability to select from several ESSID's was useful, and it was easier to get from one wifi interface to another. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

KNetworkManager was reworked to only use one icon in GM. If multiple interfaces are connected (wired + wireless) KNM should show the state of the default connection. If only one interface is up the state of this interface should be displayed.

It should behave the same but updating the tray icon seems to be broken currently. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I agree that there should be only 1 tray icon, and that the state should be displayed, but it is not. Since my original posting, I have discovered that plugging in a cable to the wired interface is sufficient to show the icon. It happens so quickly that KNM must already be running, it just isn't displaying. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
