[Bug 406459] New: nfs corruption
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=406459 Summary: nfs corruption Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ajohansson@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Running with $HOME on nfs (standard Nürnberg setup) kmail using local mail storage (in .kde4 on the nfs share) seems to lose mails every now and then. The mails show up as unknown subject, unknown sender etc. I thought it was a problem with the indexes but it's not. Doing "ls -l" in the mail directory I see that the emails with the problems show up as permission ???, owner ???, group ??? and date ???. The file name is still visible On the server, everything looks fine, and if I log out and force a remount of the nfs share, the files come back with correct meta data On local hard disk there is never a problem, this is an nfs client issue This also happened in 10.3 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The attributes are available locally. A local login on the nfs server shows that all files are correct.
By locally I meant - being available in the NFS client.
I'm not sure what you mean by "client" in your last sentence. What should I do? Mount the nfs directory from another machine?
I meant whether you are trying to use Kmail from other boxes as well - multiple clients accessing the NFS share at the same time. Also, rpc.statd is running on the client? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
