[Bug 884271] New: systemd update does not handle crypted lvm
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=884271 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=884271#c0 Summary: systemd update does not handle crypted lvm Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.2 Milestone 0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: systemd-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: coolo@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: trenn@suse.com, idonmez@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- It seems to be a problem between kernel, plymouth, dracut and systemd - but only since the latest systemd changes the problem is seen in openqa. I reproduced it locally and the booting hangs with this: http://stephan.kulow.org/systemd-plymouth-dracut.png There is no continuing after that - but pressing esc twice will show me the same last ~10 lines repeatedly. This is based on openSUSE:Factory:Staging:H which has latest factory kernel and dracut and Base:System/systemd, but misses plymouth changes -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Indeed it is the 1022 sequence number thing again. This because the plymouth is not able to handle this. After disabling this patch it works. Nevertheless the patch 1022 is correct but the method of plymouth to mimic `udevadm settle' is not.
At coolo ... we need not only for SLES-12 but also for openSUSE:Factory a working plymouth.
Didn't had time to work on this yet.. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Or plymouth is just the tip of the iceberg. This strange failure of linuxrc to find the cdrom if one passes "drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1024x768.bin" seems to be somewhat related to udev and this 1022 patch as udevadm settle seems to return too quickly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do you meant the declined SR ... or in worst case the wrong inotify call?
both ;) I'm trying to have working plymouth before submitting a new one .. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
