[Bug 336359] New: objcopy --strip-all destroys some object files
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=336359#c307722 Summary: objcopy --strip-all destroys some object files Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: pth@novell.com ReportedBy: mkudlvasr@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Development Created an attachment (id=180312) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=180312) good object file before damaging with objcopy --strip-all objcopy is part of binutils package when resolving bad building of virtualbox package for x86_64, I came to this: objcopy --strip-all VBoxREM2.rel this stripping takes place in autobuild, but in this case, the command damages the object file (becomes unusable - virtualbox cannot load it). This happens when stripping VBoxREM2.rel built for x86_64. The actual stripping can take place on x86 or x86_64 for this error to occur. Object file attached. why does it happend only on object file built for x86_64?
Just as hint, the i586 virtualbox.rpm has no VBoxREM2.rel file. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
