[Bug 342620] New: SiS 190 Ethernet driver has incorrect PCI ID
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=342620 Summary: SiS 190 Ethernet driver has incorrect PCI ID Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: des@douganconsulting.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- The SiS 190 Ethernet driver discovers the hardware; however, on loading it fails with a "Can not find ISA bridge" in the dmesg log. I Googled and found this is a known error, caused by an incorrect PCI ID: # lspci|grep ISA 00:02.0 ISA bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS968 [MuTIOL Media IO] (rev 01) # lspci -n |grep 00:02.0 00:02.0 Class 0601: 1039:0968 (rev 01) # more drivers/net/sis190.c.orig |grep isa_bridge isa_bridge = pci_get_device(PCI_VENDOR_ID_SI, 0x0965, NULL); I recompiled the module after changing 0x0965 to 0x0968 and loaded it successfully. I found I also had to specify an MTU (in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0) of 1492 to stop a high proportion of frame errors occurring on the link. For any new users who are not familiar with compiling modules, this is an absolute show-stopper, and I'm surprised (and concerned) that it got through testing. This installation is on a brand-new Acer Aspire AM1610 box. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
