[Bug 626463] New: Please bring your kdebase4-workspace feature for reducing the classic-menu menu-depth upstream
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=626463 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=626463#c0 Summary: Please bring your kdebase4-workspace feature for reducing the classic-menu menu-depth upstream Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: cyberbeat@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.1 SUSE/6.0.443.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/6.0.443.0 Safari/534.1 opensuse-11.3 contains a patch for kdebase4-workspace (plasma-kickoff-newly-collapsing.diff), which I would like to see included in kde upstream. I hope there would be not much modifications needed to this patch to do this? The patch reduces optionally the menu-depth for menu-folders with only one entry, and also shows optionally recently installed applications. (biggest obstacle i see is that kde-workspace 4.x is feature frozen...) Yes, I see that as obstacle as well. And that it is an ugly hack really, IMHO.
I think this could be implemented cleaner in libkdecore itself. (add another parameter "reducemenudepth" to KServiceGroup::entries() which defaults to false and set that accordingly in the applet when it calls root->entries() to get the menu entries) Let's see if I manage to do that. But no promises for how long it will take... ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

(biggest obstacle i see is that kde-workspace 4.x is feature frozen...) Yes, I see that as obstacle as well. And that it is an ugly hack really, IMHO. Well... ;-)
I think this could be implemented cleaner in libkdecore itself. (add another parameter "reducemenudepth" to KServiceGroup::entries() which defaults to false and set that accordingly in the applet when it calls root->entries() to get the menu entries) Ouch, that code (kdecore) is dead already for KF5 (ok, for big part is moved to kde4support), i'm not sure how big would/will that obstacle be.
Let's see if I manage to do that. But no promises for how long it will take... ;-)
No worries, and no hurry :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
