https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=444083 Summary: static IP settings not compatible with NetworkManager Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: martin.konopka@stuba.sk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User my machine: a 32-bit notebook Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Pro V3205 my desktop: KDE 4.1 (on openSUSE 11.1 Beta4) my network device: PRO/100 VE Network Connection my network settings: * Device Name: eth0 * Started automatically at boot * (static) IP adress: 192.168.0.63 * Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 * Write hostname to /etc/hosts YES * Change Hostname via DHCP NO * Nameserver 1: 192.168.0.2 * Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 However, the network configuration program (opened from yast) changes the mask to just /24 . * Enable IPv6 YES * Request Broadcast Response NO * Hostname to send AUTO * Change Default Route via DHCP NO * and some hostname and domainname set too Anytime when I try to set (in Global Options) network setup method User Controlled with NetworkManager to YES I get an error message: "This configuration is not compatible with NetworkManager. Use nm-settings applet or switch to Traditional Method with ifup." Then I must use the Traditional Method which works.
