[Bug 337832] New: recurrent Samba panics and internal errors on SLES 10 SP1
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=337832 Summary: recurrent Samba panics and internal errors on SLES 10 SP1 Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Hello, I am opening a second bug report on this since unfortunately there is no way to file bugs against the Enterprise products for non-Novell employees... We are running an SLES 10 SP1 workgroup server and since the upgrade to SP1 we have Samba errors about twice every five minutes. This seems to lock up the connections for the time it takes Samba to come up again. I will attach a typical extract from /var/log/messages. In the Samba IRC I have been told that this is a known bug in the version of Samba installed in SLES10SP1 has long been fixed. So I ask why this annoying bug is taking so long to receive a maintenance update? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Caused by this change the dmapi package has to be installed.
As soon as a meta package installer like YaST, yum, or smart is used the dependency will get resolved automatically.
OK, done. Since we have not included any non-official repos, this option was not available to us.
Unfortunately there is no way from the packaging to address this in a different way.
Sure :)
The package versioning schema used for the packages provided at the location mentioned with comment #2 ensures an update is always possible to the next official package provided for any SUSE Linux product.
Very good to know. This info made us feel comfortable enough to upgrade. The upgrade was fine and so far we have not experienced any Samba related issues on the server. We will report back as soon as anything happens.
As an alternative please consider to get in contact with support channel as defined as part of your maintenace contract.
We have an Patch-only contract. Either the information on how to provide any feedback other than with addtitional costs is hidden deeply somewhere on the website or it is simply not there... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
