https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=641348 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=641348#c0 Summary: updated 11.2 (from 11.1, both x86) doesnt manage to suse_register (establish onlineupdate source) - workflow popup external browser Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: abittner@stud.fh-heilbronn.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/3.6.10-0.3.1 Firefox/3.6.10 yet another suse_register problem. i used to have a bug back in 10.x or 11.0 or so, was some missing ssl certificates back then, or needed to reregister those on those days. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. i did an inplace upgrade (zypper) from 11.1 (x86) to 11.2 (x86) as described by suse staff here: http://lizards.opensuse.org/2009/10/01/updating-in-place-from-opensuse-11-1-... 2. after arriving at 11.2 yast2 fails to setup the update sources 3. i can manually add the update repository via zypper commandline 4. but whenever i try via the yast2 register for online sources that workflow stuff fails there. screen flickers, contacting servers, then a window appears asking me to start the registration process manually in a browser surfing to novell site etc... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Well, as you did everything that is described on this page, you already have an update repo. > 2. after arriving at 11.2 yast2 fails to setup the update sources As I said, you already have it. And according to the logs you already downloaded packages from there. > 3. i can manually add the update repository via zypper commandline Ok. > 4. but whenever i try via the yast2 register for online sources that workflow > stuff fails there. screen flickers, contacting servers, Until here this is normal behaviour of the registration process. > then a window appears asking me to start the registration process > manually in a browser surfing to novell site etc... According to the logs the registration ended with an incomplete registration. The returned status means that some manual changes are required to finish the registration. For openSUSE this should not happen, thats the reason for the error message. We should have a look at the registration server logs. Eric: - Could you please have a look if there went something wrong with this registration? * The GUID is: 7f2bcbf47309442683c25eecf83b1aa6 . * Last registration attempt (according to above log): 2010-09-23 13:57:41 CEST My guess is that this GUID is assigned to openSUSE 11.1 and now the user registers openSUSE 11.2 with it - and this fails, or from your point of view results in "needinfo" status. >From the logs this seems to be a NCC issue. - Is this correct? - Is upgrading an openSUSE system (11.1 to 11.2) supported by NCC properly? Yes, I know its openSUSE and registering it is obolete now - we won't invest in this anymore. I just want to know, so we can document it. Andreas: FYI: From openSUSE 11.3 the registration is not needed any longer - its even not supported and the package got dropped from the distribution. The update repo is assigned by default. So during a _manual_ upgrade processes as described on the linked page please take care to add the needed repos _manually_ as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
