[Bug 733174] New: kiwi-doc example "suse-pxe-client" fails when calling resize2fs
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733174 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733174#c0 Summary: kiwi-doc example "suse-pxe-client" fails when calling resize2fs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Live Medium AssignedTo: coolo@suse.com ReportedBy: Yarny@public-files.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=464399) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=464399) Log from kiwi phase two User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 When I try to build the example "suse-pxe-client" from the package "kiwi-doc", the second build phase sometimes fails: resize2fs says "No space left on device while trying to resize /tmp/mypxe-result/fsdata.ext3". Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: I tried this inside a VirtualBox which is hosted by openSUSE 11.4. 1. Install openSUSE 12.1 and all relevant kiwi packages (also kiwi-doc) 2. Do as /usr/share/doc/packages/kiwi/examples/suse-12.1/suse-pxe-client says: $ kiwi -p /usr/share/doc/packages/kiwi/examples/suse-12.1/suse-pxe-client \ --root /tmp/mypxe $ kiwi --create /tmp/mypxe --type pxe -d /tmp/mypxe-result After step 1, I created a VBox snapshot and then tried step 2 over and over. It fails maybe in 50% of all cases. My impression is that it fails when I am quick, i.e., I enter the first command right after booting, and enter the second command immediately after the first command is done. Actual Results: kiwi fails. See attachment "mypxe.log". I did as been told by resize2fs and called e2fsck, but it finishes without errors. Expected Results: kiwi succeeds. Maybe it's a bug in one of the ext2/3/4 programs, but kiwi is currently the only way I can reproduce the problem, so I filed this bug under "Live Medium". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

KNOWN BUGS The minimum size of the filesystem as estimated by resize2fs may be incorrect, especially for filesystems with 1k and 2k blocksizes. Is it possible that that's this bug?
