The actual problem is that after installing java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13 The link /etc/alternatives/javaplugin still points to /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update12/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so , which is a dead-end.
