[Bug 679016] New: Regression: sound worked in openSUSE 11.3, doesn't work any more in openSUSE 11.4
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679016 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679016#c0 Summary: Regression: sound worked in openSUSE 11.3, doesn't work any more in openSUSE 11.4 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: PVince81@yahoo.fr QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=418936) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=418936) alsa-info from openSUSE 11.4 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 On my current machine (Acer Aspire 4930G), after a new install of openSUSE 11.4, sound stopped worked. It still works with a Live USB of 11.3. Pulseaudio was uninstalled in both cases. All volumes set to max, unmuted. Audio chipset is ALC888 (snd-hda-intel). The problem doesn't seem to be the codec/model, jack switch seems to work (I see the values switch in the codec) Sound doesn't come out of the internal speakers and not from the front jack. But it does come out of the rear and center in 6-channel mode (speaker-test -c 6 -D default) Microphone can record properly. It seems to only be related to front and internal speakers (first 2 channels) I have attached alsa-info.sh from both 11.3 and 11.4 on my machine, to compare. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Run speaker-test, no sound comes out. Run speaker-test -c 6 in 6 channel mode, sound only comes from rear + center, not front. Actual Results: No sound. Expected Results: Sound. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have downloaded alsa-driver-1.0.24, compiled it and installed. Now sound works properly.
So this needs some backports if not done already. Takashi, could you take care? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
