[Bug 334095] New: Installation hangs at grub rpm when installing into 2nd hard disk
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=334095 Summary: Installation hangs at grub rpm when installing into 2nd hard disk Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: preitsch@freenet.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- openSUSE installation 10.3 failed when done into partition /dev/sdb2 (or /dev/hdd2 when using hwprobe=-modules.pata). It succeeded when connecting the same hard disk at IDE1 instead of IDE2, leaving only one hard disk. Then the installation proceeded smoothly into /dev/sda2. Problems (at IDE2): 1. installation hangs at formatting reiserfs 2. if formatting is done beforehand, installation hangs at the grub rpm package 3. if the grub package and bootloader installation are left out, installation hangs at making initrd. Comment: I believe that the bootloader installation perl script stops due to an uninitialized variable value. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
