https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=253434 ------- Comment #1 from suse@bugs.jan.ritzerfeld.net 2007-04-01 08:02 MST ------- Generally, I can confirm this. You cannot even start the screensaver via screen corner actions. However, locking the screen . But, even if I disable powersave in KDE, after about 10 minutes the screen gets blanked[1], though. This happens despite there is no kscreensaver or xscreensaver process running/started[2] and DPMS is turned off completely within the X server[3]. Furthermore, kpowersave was never started in the X session and is not running, too. Same effect occurs if I start and use kpowersave instead of KDE to disable DPMS. Thus, it is not possible to get rid of any screen blanking or DPMS while having a screensaver activated and working. No screensaver at all results in "image sticking" of my TFT. Blanking and DPMS yield to frequent and time consuming wakeups. [1] That means, the screen simply turns black while the TFT back light is still turned on. [2] "while true; do ps x >> processes.lst; sleep 30s; done" did not show suspect processes when the screen was blanked [3] Checked with "xset q | grep DPMS" -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=253434 ------- Comment #2 from suse@bugs.jan.ritzerfeld.net 2007-04-22 11:18 MST ------- Adding DPMS-dependent=false to the ScreenSaver group of kdesktoprc seems to do the trick. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Screensaver shouldn't be started in such case either. Use the option from comment #3 if you want, it cannot be changed otherwise currently. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
