https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227012 Summary: K3b 0.12.17-100.pm.0 fails to start due to "pipe closed unexpectedly" Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jarmo.ahonen@uku.fi QAContact: kde-maintainers@suse.de Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.21-0.25-default Everything worked fine until the last update. Now k3b just doesn't start.
From the command-line things go:
jja at host:~> k3b ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly. jja at host:~> I'm not sure whether the problem is due to the latest version of k3b or some other package. I originally reported this problem to www.kde.org, but according to them the bug is a packaging problem, not a KDE problem. That discussion can be found from the bug report: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138503 The complete list of the packages installed on my machine has been attached to the KDE-bug report. By the way, I'm running Suse Linux 10.1 on ThinkPad R50p without any such problems. The package configuration is different, however. My machine is a Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad T43p, manufactured 07/2005. Please do not hesitate to email for further questions. It is a Packman package: http://packman.links2linux.de/package/219 Unless you can reproduce the very same behaviour with a SUSE package, this report is invalid here and should be forwarded to the Packman maintainers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227012 ------- Comment #2 from jarmo.ahonen@uku.fi 2006-12-08 02:22 MST ------- Sorry. You are of course right. I have, however, tried to the following way to solve things: 1) open yast Software management tool 2) remove k3b 3) close YaST software menegement tool 4) open installation source tool 5) disable packman 6) close installation source tool 7) reboot machine 8) open yast software management tool 9) install k3b with packamn disabled 10) close software management tool 11) reboot machine 12) try k3b - does not start, the same problem persists. I'll remove all packman packages and try to reproduce the problem with only SuSE packages on my machine. I'll let you know what happens after that.
