It would look like a graphical card error, but it is endemic to KDE4; when I switch to KDE3, it stops, so it looks more like some drawing problem of the KDE workspace. The effect is more intensive when the screen is often redrawn, like when editing text; it occurs very sporadically if the computer is idle. Desktop effect settings seems not to have any effect. I will check how a different window manager behaves. So: * nv, nouveau, vesa have this problem, * nvidia, fbdev do not have it. As we don't have enough information to be able to determine the cause, I think we have to close the bug for now. Driver is "nv"; I cannot use "nvidia" as this leads invariably to a black screen when starting X - this was also the case under Opensuse 10.3. Going down to 16bpp does not seem to help. X-Server is "X.Org X Server 1.4.0.90"; the card is a nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1).
