See attached example pictures. The same camera on other (older) computers with openSUSE 10.3 works without problems. It mounts as a read-only device. However, I copied the same file twice from the camera to the file system and compared: files differ. I created hexdumps of the two files and compared those. It appears that there are simply a few single bit errors. See attached file with the diff of the two hexdumps. The symptoms of the problem are similar to those reported in Bug 35836 for download via network. The same camera works fine on other computers with openSUSE 10.3. It doesn't appear to be a hard disk problem either, because the problem occurs also when loading the image directly from the camera into an image viewer, e.g. xv. Loading the same picture from an "ordinary" USB memory stick to disk (using the same USB port as for the camera) works fine without problem. Loading big files from CDs to disk seems to work without problems as well. As I said previously I already replaced the mainboard by a new one of the same type and newer BIOS. The only module module in the system related to ehci is ehci_hcd. After I unloaded this module the behavior of the camera was unchanged, but the plain USB stick shows the strange behavior of the camera now. Something is seriously wrong with your USB1.1 controller and your Network controller... probably they are sitting on same bus that has problems or something like that. Can you 0) Update to latest BIOS. 1) Load failsafe bios defaults. 2) Check cooling of chipset. 3) Check with some other operating system. This one came with the latest BIOS. 1) I also played with BIOS settings then - no visible change 2) The problem happens right after boot, when the system is relatively cool, as well as with a long running system. I also installed an extra ventilator. 3) I tried with Knoppix 5.3.1 life sytem - behaviour for the camera is similar. However, the network problems seem to disappear as long as I work from network to ramdisk. Copying from ramdisk with cp to harddisk also works fine. If I download directly from network to harddisk I have the same problem as with openSUSE. What do you think about trying another type of mainboard? According to http://de.opensuse.org/HKL/Mainboard the higher version of my mainboard, i.e. MSI K9N Neo-F V3 with the NVIDIA nForce 560 chipset (instead of 520), works fine with openSUSE 10.3 (the hangup problem during installation mentioned there should be resolved by specifying "hwprobe=-isa" as it was necessary for my board as well). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
