http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557592 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557592#c0 Summary: no keyboard not mouse in sax2 test screen (so no anwser possible) - with workaround Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jean.daniel@dodin.net QAContact: sax2-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=328846) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=328846) first xorg log User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; fr; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 SUSE/3.5.4-1.1.2 Firefox/3.0.3, Ant.com Toolbar 1.1 I connected an external monitor to my laptop. The screen setup was not good on the external. On an other computer, I changed the monitor, the new one didn't accept frequency and stay blank. So I started as init 1 (typed "1" at boot) and run sax2 (or sax2-vesa). I got the correct blue screen with the tags on the corners, but then I couldn't answer: I had no keyboard nor mouse to give an answer. I was obliged to switch off... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot as init 1 2.launch sax2 and get test screen Actual Results: display the test blue screen (with good guess) could do nothing, no keyboard not mouse to answer the questions Expected Results: usually I was able to clic on "ok" to accept I had this oproblem on two very different configurations, so probably not hardware related. May be not even sax2, but X, because I wonder if startx didn't give the same result (I tried this 3 days ago when hit the bug for the same time, but my memory is not that good). WORKAROUND: init 1 sax2 -a (automatic) *do not* try the config in init1 simply reboot, X works.... pretty basic 11.2 install, as the problem arise very soon after the install the workaround is easy, but on the first case I didn't find it and was obliged to bring back the computer at home, a 200 miles trip, so easy to workaround, but very unpleasant -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You cannot run X in runlvl 1 as you need HAL to work. Otherwise you will not have a keyboard (as you have experienced). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
