I'd probably not introduce a configuration variable for that but remove the hardcoded addresses unconditionally though. pppd chooses dummy addresses itself then (10.112.112.112 and 10.64.64.64). We should rather try to fix the problem at the core. The smpppd code looks strange to me. It only sets the remote and local ip addresses if "dial on demand" is enabled. I do not know why this is needed. Can someone please test the attached patch/rpm? Preferably with and without dial on demand enabled. By the way; though the code of smpppd may look strange - isn't it an issue of pppd rather than smpppd? I mean, we tell pppd on the commandline to allow the IP-addresses to be modified, but nevertheless it seems to not work in case a default IP-pair is handed over. Wouldn't it make sense to just adapt pppd in such a way that it uses what is handed over in the very same manner as it uses it's own defaults? According to my understanding the presence of the local:remote IP-pair has no impact on smpppd but on pppd. So, why not look into the pppd - code that way? If we do so we can simply keep everything else as-is and need no additional configuration options. I mean the commands "ipcp-accept-local" ipcp-accept-remote" "demand" "defaultroute""replacedefaultroute" "usepeerdns" are being handed over to pppd but it somehow interprets the ip - pair it gets. Please give me your suggestions on this; I'd like to discuss it prior to start working on pppd. Thanks! Both of your patches work as expected - I tested them as long as I had had access to the laptop. I was really convinced that I had posted the information - apparently I start suffering from Alzheimer, nevertheless. It is up to you to choose which variant of the patches you're planning to use, to my disappointment I do not have access to the laptop and the handy any more therefore I am unable to performe additional tests!
