[Bug 655166] New: Boot shifts to secondary monitor after udev devices are created
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655166 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655166#c0 Summary: Boot shifts to secondary monitor after udev devices are created Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@novell.com ReportedBy: cmattair@pdq.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=401450) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=401450) lspci -v User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-0.7.1 Firefox/3.6.12 My machine as two vga cards (primary=03:06.0 and secondary=01:00.0). When the system first boots, I see the boot sequence start on the primary monitor. However, when I see mkdir: cannot create directory `/dev/mapper': File exists mknod: `/dev/ampper/control': File exists Creating devices nodes with udev the display shifts to the secondary monitor. At the same time, the boot loses my text preferences (vga=normal) and shifts to the default 50ish line format. Also, when booting a xen kernel, the secondary monitor background is the expected black. However, when booting 2.6.34.7-0.5-desktop, I get a SuSE background on the secondary. To make matters more interesting (the secondary is a dual headed Radeon HD 3450), I will occasionally have diffent video modes on the two screens. I've never bothered to count the lines when this happens as it is very infrequent. This happens with both the xen and desktop kernels. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install two VGA cards with the higher PCI address the primary. 2. Boot. 3. Actual Results: As noted above in the details. Expected Results: Boot sequence remains on primary with vga=normal text.
