[Bug 418439] New: VYM will not start when a printer does not accept IPP connections
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=418439 Summary: VYM will not start when a printer does not accept IPP connections Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: DHWalker@ucdavis.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- This is an odd one, but very reproducible. Vym would hang on startup for a few minutes, then flash a window on the screen and exit. Hypothesizing that it was some form of network timeout, I did: # netstat -p | grep vym tcp 0 1 psl-7.ucdavis.edu:19856 psl-224.ucdavis.edu:ipp SYN_SENT 15079/vym unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 106409 15079/vym unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 106379 15079/vym unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 106377 15079/vym Psl-224.ucdavis.edu is a printer that CUPS picks up automatically, but (apparently) it does not accept IPP connections. It is not a printer that I use; my default printer is another printer. I was able to get vym working by crafting a custom firewall rule that ignores IPP packets from psl-224.ucdavis.edu and removing the printer it was advertising. There is clearly something wrong with psl-224.ucdavis.edu, but that shouldn't affect vym. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
