https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=384676 Summary: powersave ^W /proc/acpi gets the battery online state wrong Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mvidner@novell.com QAContact: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Powersave worked fine on my laptop in 10.3, but reports wrong information now. 1) I boot KDE4 with an empty battery but power cable attached. It thinks the cable is not plugged and battery is not discharging (wow). totoro:~ # powersave -B All primary batteries: Remaining percent: 29 Charging state: AC state: offline Battery 1: Type: primary Remaining percent: 29 Charging state: neither charging nor discharging 2) I unplug the cable: all OK totoro:~ # powersave -B All primary batteries: Remaining percent: 29 Charging state: discharging AC state: offline Battery 1: Type: primary Remaining percent: 29 Remaining minutes: 0 Charging state: discharging 3) I plug the cable again: it realizes that, but still thinks the battery is not charging. totoro:~ # powersave -B All primary batteries: Remaining percent: 29 Charging state: AC state: online Battery 1: Type: primary Remaining percent: 29 Charging state: neither charging nor discharging Aha, /proc/acpi seems to be at fault. Let me leave powersave in for easier duplicate searching. Repeating steps 2 and 3... totoro:~ # cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ACAD/state; echo; cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state state: off-line present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: discharging present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 1244 mAh present voltage: 15725 mV totoro:~ # cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ACAD/state; echo; cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state state: on-line present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: 0 mA remaining capacity: 1256 mAh present voltage: 16425 mV (design capacity is 4300 mAh) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
