[Bug 547460] New: Mouse loses functionality at certain times on desktop.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=547460 Summary: Mouse loses functionality at certain times on desktop. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Usability AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ryan.stanyan@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- After installing RC1 i noticed after the first update that the mouse cannot manipulate application or workspace elements at the same time. For instance, I can control the taskbar and select items from it at one time. However, when this happens I cannot control applications. I also cannot select items from the kicker as well. When I eventually do gain access to an application via the mouse accessing the taskbar reverts back to the previous state mentioned. I have tested the mouse against a Windows XP and a Solaris installation and this problem does not arise. It also doesn't arise when I used KDE 4.3 on openSUSE 11.1. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

System works fine when I start console, then run : init 3 and after that init 5. With X11 restarted, mouse works fine.
Confirmed. After restarting the X server, the problem is gone (but will show up again on next reboot).
I'm running OpenSuSE 11.2 final, 64bit version, Gigabyte GA-EP43-S3L motherboard with NVidia 9500GT,
I have a NVidia chip as well: Model: "Lenovo ThinkPad T61p" Vendor: pci 0x10de "nVidia Corporation" Device: pci 0x040c "Quadro FX 570M" SubVendor: pci 0x17aa "Lenovo" SubDevice: pci 0x20d9 "ThinkPad T61p"
mouse is some wireless Logitech model.
Same here - but I also tried with a normal (cabled) USB mouse from Dell. Same problem. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't have problems with the mouse since I changed values in xorg.conf from:
Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2"
to:
Option "Protocol" "auto"
I tried, but it didn't help (still had to restart the X-server to get rid of this problem). But even restarting the X-server doesn't fix it for good: after several (many) hours and suspend to RAM cycles, the problem does come back again (and can be fixed again by restarting the X-server once more) ... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could you please attach y2logs according to http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST.
You want the y2logs from the initial installation, right? Sorry, but I didn't safe them. At the time of the installation, it didn't bother me too much. Only later did I realise that the same problem also exists in the installed system. They are not automatically saved somewhere where I would still have access to in the fully installed system, right? Anything else I can help you with? Anyway, like I already pointed out in comment #5 (confirmed by someone else in comment #8), this isn't a YaST specific problem. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
