I set it back to something around 50%, but it's reset to 100 the next time a notification comes in. The only option to stop this is to completely mute the sound. How to reproduce: Always Steps to reproduce: 1. Set up pidgin to play a sound as notification. 2. Set the volume to 50%. Doesn't matter if you use pavucontrol, xfce4-mixer, xfce4-panel-plugin-mixer, or xfce4-panel-plugin-pulseaudio. 3. Wait until somebody messages you or mentions your nick. Please bear with me if Xfce is not the right component for this. I haven't tested this behavior under GNOME yet, and I don't know what component pidgin is in Bugzilla, that's why I file it against Xfce.
