[Bug 758504] New: graphics corruption of radeon (oss) driver with Radeon HD 5500 Series on x86-64 but not on x86
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=758504 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=758504#c0 Summary: graphics corruption of radeon (oss) driver with Radeon HD 5500 Series on x86-64 but not on x86 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: abittner@abittner.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 I just tried the milestone3 .iso builds on the same physical hardwaresystem x86 works fine with the pcie 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Redwood PRO [Radeon HD 5500 Series] but x86-64 gives many corrupted pixels especially in the windows upper border where the windows title is being displayed, when I drag a whole window with the mouse left and right or when i resize it and so on. first I thought this was the unfortunately low quality and years in slow paced development on the open source graphics drivers in the linux world, but then I found out that this behavior is not visible on 32bit/x86 the milestone3 isos have different build numbers though for x86 and x86-64, I am not sure if they all use the same xorg packages and versions. I used http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.2-Milestone3/iso/openSUSE-DVD-B... and http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.2-Milestone3/iso/openSUSE-DVD-B... The corruption vanishes if you lower and redisplay a window or if you resize it a bit more or move it beyond the borders of the physical screen and move it back in. Sometimes it corrupts, sometimes it fixes it self and redraws. The edges and border areas are affected mainly, I tried with the firefox window, but maybe those because they are not that often refreshed and redrawn in contrast to the actual usable area of the browser window (firefox).
