I noticed that the CPU frequency stuff for kernel >3.1 is already fixed in upstream git and via online update for 12.1 (see bnc#737319). At least the enable-profile part. Your enable-profile script changes a lot of other stuff. What exactly? Can you rebase the patch on what is upstream and mention the changes? The following is rather not related to this bug report: I like you changes for config.template, but have one question: Now we have CPUFREQ_CONSERVATIVE_SAMPLING_RATE and CPUFREQ_ONDEMAND_SAMPLING_RATE. Wouldn't it make sense to merge those two to only have one CPUFREQ_SAMPLING_RATE variable? Didn't have a closer look at get-current-settings which changes quite a bit. What does it do? Why not only changing what's necessary to get the cpufreq stuff >3.1 supported? Same for pm-profiler wrapper. Why so many changes? Question: - Have you re-added the start-up script to load the hardware board CpuFreq driver? It was no longer in the openSUSE Factory repository, so I now load the acpi_cpufreq driver by adding it to the INITRD_MODULES list in /etc/sysconfig/kernel .

It should be in the pm-utils package. For the other stuff...I'm fine with all of it. However, as mentioned in comment #6, it would be great if you could rebase the changes to what is in the upstream repo. Of course, as soon as time permits, this would make the packaging a lot easier.
