If you don't mind could you provide the following log file: /var/log/YaST2/y2start.log you can get the file after the 4 minute delay if you switch to the second console Ctrl-Alt-F2 and dump the file on a disk or a stick or over the network if activated. "hwprobe=cpuemu hwinfo --monitor" produces the same delay at 'dcc info', though it is now ~ 1 minute instead of four; 2. after "hwprobe=cpuemu hwinfo --monitor" has been executed, next run of "hwinfo --monitor" also show larger delay at 'smp' step; 3. in one case running two instances of the command quite efficiently hung the machine. can't reproduce, though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=207112 ------- Comment #12 from snwint@novell.com 2006-09-22 04:48 MST ------- Ok, that confirms that it hangs inside the video BIOS code, which I really can't do anything about. I will make the cpu emulation the default, however, as the interpreter has some workarounds added to catch such situations. I can't shorten the timeout, though, because some hardware really does need that long. So that 1 minute delay will stay, unfortunately. You can use hwprobe=-bios.vesa (as boot option) to skip all this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
