Must use "text" installation mode. Screen goes blank at start of X portion of installation. Steps to reproduce. 1) Put in CD 2) Boot 3) select any screen resolution except text. 4) Screen goes blank. Monitor reports no signal to monitor. Media check passes tests. Not a bad DVD. Tried all resolutions and VESA mode. Tried updating BIOS to latest version. After a successful installation (text mode) - only tty text consoles are usable (CTRL-ALT-F1, etc) . Changed /etc/inittab to start in runlevel 3 and ran "startx" and also get a blank screen. Tried Ubuntu 8.10. So I no longer have OpenSuse on an EEE box. I can however easily run during-install tests which is how I generated the previous attachments. Let me know if you need me to run sax2 during the installation.
