[Bug 683976] New: backlight: levels undesiredly restored, sysfs not updated
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683976 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=683976#c0 Summary: backlight: levels undesiredly restored, sysfs not updated Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jengelh@medozas.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- Not sure if this is for Component:kernel or for Component:Xorg. I have termined xfce4-power-manager to rule out it interfering (because it does actually, as I noticed - sets the brightness to max when returning to tty7). When switching from Xorg to a tty[1-6] console or back, the backlight level is always restored to the value 3. Additionally, the values in /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/{actual_brightness,brightness} are not updated - which may hint towards that it is the userspace driver setting the brightness directly without involving the kernel. $ lspci 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller (aka GMA3150). I would prefer if the brightness is retained and not automatically changed without me requesting it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
