In Beta1 the disk was sda, in beta2 (I booted the B2 install disk) it is hda again -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=218778 ------- Comment #3 from Joachim.Reichelt@helmholtz-hzi.de 2006-11-12 08:41 MST ------- Due to the switch ata_piix vs piix module the /boot/grub/device.map and menu.lst need changes. If taken the path from a5 to b1 to b2 I have to edit /etc/fstab AND /boot/grub/device.map and /boot/grub/menu.lst each time. For a normal user this is impssible. So keep the device names from 10.0, 10.1 to 10.2 or fix the new schema inside the update mechanism. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=218778 ------- Comment #4 from aj@novell.com 2006-11-12 10:10 MST ------- Ad #3: The ata_piix/piix switch in beta1 was an error and reported as such even in my announcements. We will now keep /dev/hda in 10.2. If this ever changes, the updater has to handle it properly. You could mount everything by ID to keep the fstab working if it ever changes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=218778 ------- Comment #5 from Joachim.Reichelt@helmholtz-hzi.de 2006-11-12 15:29 MST ------- I know, but this did not help on fresh installation. There (in BETA1) I got (/dev/sdc,0) in menu.lst instead of (hd0,0). I did not a fresh installation again now, but an update. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=218778 ------- Comment #6 from Joachim.Reichelt@helmholtz-hzi.de 2006-11-13 02:19 MST ------- One problem seems to be: Due to the renaming of hda etc in Beta1, there is no /dev/hda in /boot/grub/devices so in /boot/grub/menu.lst intead of the grub names hd0 etc. the linux names are used. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
