[Bug 908918] New: After update to Firefox 34.0.5 Firefox does not handle or store saved Passwords or restore session on startup
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=908918 Bug ID: 908918 Summary: After update to Firefox 34.0.5 Firefox does not handle or store saved Passwords or restore session on startup Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Hardware: i686 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox Assignee: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: starrlg@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- After update, this morning to Firefox 34.0.5, and restarting firefox. Saved passwords no longer worked, and saved sessions no longer restarted on startup. Viewing saved passwords from the properties screen revealed an empty list, although I was able to verify that the key3.db and logins.json files were present and non-empty. Verified all settings for Saved Passwords to no effect. Finally downgraded, via yast, to Firefox 33.0-46 and regained both saved passwords and saved session restore. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

trying export of password from 33 (which still works) and import to 34 no go here removed json file and import (note the importer indicated 143 of 144 password brought in). I can view the passwords unlike what some reported.
When you reverted back to V33 to export was it the *same* logins.json that you had used with V34?
If you have a backup copy of logins.json from V33, which has not been used with V34, I'd restore that and give the export/import another go.
Nope don't have an untouched copy. Even if I start with no logins.json file 34 does not ask to save password. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Cannot reproduce. Could you please run firefox with -safe-mode parameter and see if you find the same broken behaviour?
I had been away from the system where I had the problem for a couple of days. Today I: 1) backed up my .mozilla directory. 2) Reinstalled release 34.0.5. 3) Tried ran Firefox. - Password manager still not supplying passwords, or storing them. 4) Restarted firefox in safe mode (same results, still will not supply, or save, passwords. 5) Exited firefox, moved both login.json and keys3.db out of the way and tried again. - still no joy, password manager still does not offer to save passwords. After these tests I moved my "login" and keys3 files back into place, reverted to version 33.0-46, and everything is working as it should again. A side note, as I mentioned in my original but report, the saved sessions feature also ceases to work in version 34.0.5. The session I exited, from version 33, had about 12 active tabs. When I launched version 34 I was presented with a single (new) tab. After reverting to version 33, I was presented with the familiar "Restore Sessions" screen when launching the browser. I have no idea if this may relate to the password manager issue or not? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I got my 34 running it seems that it did not like my old prefs.js file I forced some preference change and password management came back. Had to reinstall flash and reset my appearance selection. but I seem to have all back now . I suspect that 34 is just more picky on the syntax and form and my files are very old going back to openSUSE 10.1
Had a bit of trouble with the spell checker but reinstalling the dictionary file fixed it.
Did you do this by updating any, particular, preferences, or simply moved prefs.js out of the way and forced it to rebuild? I just reinstalled and attempted, via updating a couple of preferences, and still do not have 34 saving passwords or using saved passwords on login screens. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
