Current STABLE works again.
When you say STABLE, do you mean from the DVD and/or openSUSE 11.1 OSS repo? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tried 'startx -logverbose 7' but that didn't seem to make any difference. At
startx doesn't allow any Xserver arguments.
I rebooted (via ssh) and then issues 'X -logverbose 7'. I think that did the trick as the log file seems to contain a lot of meat.
The Xserver basically stalls in RandrPreInit.
Let me know if you need me to try anything else. In the meantime, I will be downgrading the 4 RPMs so I can use the machine again.
Ok. Do you know how to use a debugger (gdb in particular)? Then I'd ask you to 'gdb --args /usr/bin/Xorg -kb', set a breakpoint at RHDRandrPreInit, and single-step ('n') through this function - and see whether it stalls at some call (in which case the previous few lines of gdb output would be important), or runs in circles (the loops in this function should only run some few iterations each). As we had this issue here, and it's no longer happening, I assume this is something that had been fixed upstream, which will surface in factory soon, so it's probably not worth the effort. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Jiri, this looks exactly like the same issue Alvin had. See comment #8 how to help investigating this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
