[Bug 218182] New: Confusing behaviour with opensuse-updater using default (libzypp)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=218182 Summary: Confusing behaviour with opensuse-updater using default (libzypp) Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 1 plus Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: kkaempf@novell.com ReportedBy: martin.schlander@gmail.com QAContact: kkaempf@novell.com I have installed libzypp, opensuse-updater and zypper on 10.1 using packages provided by Pascal. (see http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/zypp/) Of course this is very unofficial - but for now it's the only way to test it with patches available. I think there's a small usability problem. When updates are available in opensuse-updater you click the icon and the window is in focus. At this point the "install" button is dimmed, until you click anyone of the available patches. This gives the impression that pressing install-button will install the individual selected package. I suggest that the "install" button is un-dimmed when patches are available, without the user having to click a random patch first. And another thing, it would be nice to have a feature to "Check for updates now" or something like that, perhaps in the context menu. These are small issues, generally this stuff is looking and working, very nice. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=218182 ------- Comment #2 from dmacvicar@novell.com 2006-11-08 09:50 MST ------- Sure, Martin, yes, this is a bug I am aware of. The packages doesn't work in the build service because the 10.1 version there does not include the online updates. Martin Vidner offers zypper for 10.1 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2006-11/msg00284.html http://artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~martin/misc/zypper/ I will try to offer the applet as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

This is what the duplicate is about. Please fix this annoying/confusing bug for 10.2! (upgrading severity according to the duplicate)
And another thing, it would be nice to have a feature to "Check for updates now" or something like that, perhaps in the context menu.
"Check now..." is already implemented in RC1 :-) (still untranslated) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
