[Bug 233554] New: Add Nvidia Cg package to add-on CD
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=233554 Summary: Add Nvidia Cg package to add-on CD Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: unspecified Platform: Other URL: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg_toolkit.html OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: michl@novell.com ReportedBy: kai.blin@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: mhopf@novell.com, adrian@novell.com, aj@novell.com, sndirsch@novell.com Nvidia offers a Cg toolkit at http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg_toolkit.html A couple of graphics engines, e.g. the Ogre 3D engine (http://www.ogre3d.org/) need those libraries. It would be nice if this could go on the openSUSE 10.3 add-on CD. I'll be happy to supply a .spec file if needed, but I figure it will be easy to create, so maybe the person who will get to maintain that on your side will want to create it from scratch rather than adapting to my version. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=233554 ------- Comment #1 from adrian@novell.com 2007-01-11 03:54 MST ------- I asked Kai to request this, because he wants to build software against this library in the build service. Since the library itself is closed source (not OSI compliant), we can not provide packages for it via the build service. A way to solve this is similar to the Java or RealPlayer approach. If we provide this lib via the Add-On CD, we can also compile against it via the build service. And the users are able to install the packages via a package manager. The license allows free redistribution, IIRC. But should be checked. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Package cg looks good. (would look even better if GL/glext.h were under the same license terms as the rest of the package, but still acceptable)
GL/glext.h is autogenerated from the (former) SGI OpenGL extension database, thus a different license. But I'm actually unsure whether it should be supplied at all anyway. I was close to removing it, but as long as it sticks in the documentation section, it doesn't do any harm. So feel free to request to remove it :-P Thanks to all -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
